Thursday, March 21st, 2002 11:58 amAlarm blares at 8:30. Groan. Stumble to shower. Attempt to register for one honors class at allotted time. ISIS found to be uncooperative. Mutter under breath and high-tail it for crim. Back to dorm. Registration successful. EXP 3104: Sensory Processes, MWF 3 (9:35-10:25); meets in Psychology Building down the street. Thought I could roll out of bed and jaunt down. Realized later will be living across campus next semester, and the jaunt will be substantial. Oy. Must debate: long walk to early morning class v. interesting course meeting necessary general education credit for biological science. Decide against seeking out linguistics professor at office hours to discuss paper topic, as no paper topic at present. (Note to self: work on that.) Can therefore curl up in library, read for hour or so. Linguistics lecture, appointment with advisor, lunch with brother.
it's the best show on television!
Thursday, March 21st, 2002 05:20 pmI knew that if I checked my mail box often enough the package slip would appear. And that's how I came to own my The West Wing t-shirt.
Front: circular logo with stars and stripes and "Vote Bartlet 2002"
Back: "Television Without Pity" TV logo, and underneath: "Don't blame me, I voted for Bartlet"
I am hugely entertained.
In other news, Erin is gone for the weekend. Roommate-free is the way to be.

Thursday, March 21st, 2002 07:52 pmI met with an honors advisor this afternoon, seeking the answers to several questions. As to why my AP Spanish score (4) wasn't giving me proficiency status to meet the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement: I came in with too many credits, meaning some got bumped, and don't count. Spanish was one of those, and since it doesn't count for credit, it doesn't count for proficiency either. So. I can either manipulate the credits I came in with so these will count instead; take the SAT IIs and prove proficiency with a high enough score; or take two semesters of a foreign language. I'm leaning towards door number two at the moment; it would also act as placement into classes, and I would like to pick up the languages again. At some point. My brother snarked on me: "Yeah, some people like to take more SATs for no reason." Have I mentioned my deep and abiding hatred for ETS?
My advisor also recommended I talk to the good folks in Peer Counseling for help with major selection. Maybe I'll get to take cool personality tests again. Those are always fun. She also suggested possible double majoring/minoring combinations of subjects that really catch my fancy. And she reassured me that I can change them around until I get collect 90 UF credit hours (3 years worth), which made me feel better. The plan right now: clean up the gen eds and keep taking 1) what I really feel drawn to and 2) general classes that will fit into most/all of the majors I'm considering. I still don't have any direction, but I feel better about it now.

from Russell Crowe's Fame Re-Audit:
"Don't get us wrong: there are reasons to have misgivings about Russell Crowe. Number one: Vanity rock group side-project. Number two: BAFTA producer beat-down. Number three: For those of you unfamiliar with the nuances of Hollywood euphemisms, the word 'perfectionist' can be translated roughly as 'unrepentant asshole.' The word 'driven' can be translated roughly as 'obstinate prick.' And the phrase 'dedicated to his craft' translates roughly as 'stubborn asshole who'll keep the crew up until 4 AM because he didn't like the way his eyebrows twitched in the sixty-third and most recent take.'
"Russell Crowe is often described as a driven perfectionist who's dedicated to his craft."
