Tick Tock Time by Silvia Kundera
Chris says yes before Justin even knows his name is Chris. He scrunches back to make room in the line, because Justin is hungry and just wants to go home, and Chris doesn't care that people will glare when Justin cuts. Justin tries to pretend that he's not surprised, and begins measuring out seconds before the small talk drifts off and Chris' eyes go dull.
Sometimes waiting is stupid.
With Chris that's never, Justin knows . . . about 10 minutes after the first stumbling words that are only stumbling because they aren't him. When he stops being the nice pretty glass box that /oh, don't you want to pet, hire, keep until the next best thing/, then it's easy. And he thinks, at first, that he might never have to wait again.Justin's world is all about time--and timing. I love the pace of this story, dreamy and deliberate, and prodding you patiently but firmly ever onward.
