this is the story of the road that goes to my house

I will always do this meme. Play! Play?

From [livejournal.com profile] meinnim this time:
1. Put your playlist on shuffle.
2. Post the first lines to the first 25 songs to come up (along with these instructions).
3. Have people guess the songs and artists in comments to the post.
4. Post the answers to the ones people guessed correctly. A couple of days later, post the first two lines of the ones no one got and get people to guess again.
5. Repeat, adding the next line to the unguessed songs each time, until they're all guessed/you've posted the whole song/you've gotten bored/no-one's going to get the damn thing if you don't tell them.

These memes are the best memes.

11. "Ticket to Ride", The Beatles
25. um, "Where Do We Go from Here"? from the Buffy musical?

(and 18 is Belle and Sebastian, but the song escapes me entirely atm.)

I could do these memes ALL DAY.

Yes for the Beatles, and heh, you are right that "where do we go from here" is the opening line to the song of the same name from the Buffy musical—it just wasn't the song I had in mind. And I was so careful to skip over the songs that started with their titles! (some of the songs I had to skip: Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying; The Cheap and Evil Girl; Solsbury Hill; Everyone Says I'm Paranoid; etc.) I shall amend the lyrics to remove ambiguity.

(18 is Belle & Sebastian, but which one omg? Do I award full credit?? Pls advise.)

See, I thought the Buffsical would have been utterly too obvious, but then I thought, well, someone has to say it. (Also both that and the Beatleses one felt very generic, as in "could be the start of a million songs".)

(But, o no! no credit at all, because I still don't remember the song. I'm not even entirely sure I'm remembering the sound of it right - just, the lyrics struck me as very recognizably belle&sebastianesque, somehow. maybe.)

2. Barenaked Ladies! The best song in the world set to circus music (possibly the only song set to circus music, but omg it's so good!)!

7. New Radicals, Crying Like a Church on Monday

14. Jude, You Mama You

16. Annie Lennox, Pavement Cracks (um. I think?)

23. Cake, Ruby Sees All

. . . and I'm tapped out. That's so sad. I miss you terribly! Hope you're having fun, whatever you're up to.

24. Three Dog Night, Shambala

You are right on all counts! I thought of you for a bunch of them, esp. "Tonight Is The Night . . . " and the New Radicals, because you iconed that baby at least once, and keyworded it as well. I, uh. Remember these things. It has permanent Ri-associations. But! Other songs are set to circus music! One I can think of off the top of my head is Jude's "The Asshole Song" that I think you have? It's quiet and slow, like circus music played on a record that is slowly running out, and is very sad (and, being Jude, it is also pretty pretty pretty) instead of wildly creepy like BNL. I think there must be other songs, but none I can come up with right this very moment in time. I will think about it if you wish!

I miss you also. I left choppy voicemail for you tonight, I shall call you tomorrow and hopefully we can chat. All is well here; I hope the same holds true for you and yours. *mwah*
