Went to the Honors office again to get form signed. Eventually I was called in to see Dr. D. about it; sorry, the class was full, and just why was I trying to get into it five weeks into the semester anyway? Blah blah blah the god-forsaken thesis fell through and I'm scrambling for creditscakes, and she was like, well, instead of just giving (*checks transcript*) an obviously fabulous student like you any three credits, why don't we challenge you with three credits of undergraduate research that won't necessarily lead to a thesis, but will be challenging and purposeful and look good for graduate schools? And I said because it's completely antithetical to my personality, work habits, and academic history? that's a FABULOUS idea.

So now I'll go back to E. and ask if instead of a thesis, can I just do some research and write some kind of paper for him (joy omg), either through the Honors department (IDH 4917 Honors Undergraduate Research) or in Linguistics (LIN 4905 Individual Study). It's plausible! It will involve time in the library and reading things, and possibly even thinking about things and coming to conclusions about them, which if I squeeze my eyes shut and give myself plenty of room I just might remember how to do. Or possibly I never knew, as I have been faking my paper writing all these years. Either way!

*crosses fingers*
